Many young people look to start their careers, but there is always one requirement on almost every single job application … experience. Nowadays, college courses or jobs to pay the bills aren’t cutting it. Companies want new hires who have some type of exposure within the field so they know where to start.
During Internship Awareness Month, Edge takes this time to recognize the hard work of our interns and celebrate their continued growth. Internships offer a great way to teach and share information with a person eager to start their career. They provide employment training and experiential learning opportunities that often enhance professional qualities, such as strengthening soft skills like teamwork, communication and problem-solving. Internships offer young job seekers the chance to break into the workforce and gain meaningful knowledge.
Nearly 68% of students seek internships to gain involvement and skills in their academic fields. There are plenty of students out there looking for work. They know the value and want hands-on learning.
Personally, at Edge, I am learning more than I ever would in the classroom. Classwork is important but putting what you learn in the classroom into real-life activities and seeing the outcome make it so much easier to learn. This internship prepared me for the professional world, and I am excited to see what’s next.
Your company’s success is always important, and an intern can be a great addition! Cheers to Internship Awareness Month!
